How babies recognize their Moms

It is every mom's ultimate happiness to have another human in the tummy. When I had Nicole and Derek, I was overwhelmed with the idea of having them in my womb for 9 months. Can you imagine how wonderful it is? The feeling is magical. So for all pregnant moms out there. Let me share to you what I have learned...

You should not underestimate baby's intelligence. The brain of a newborn baby has some 200 billion cells, each primed to form connections with the cells around it. Stimulating the neurons of the brain is the key to their survival. In other words, just like the muscles of the body, the brain works by the principle of "use it or lose it." Amazing fact, right?

The outside world really begins to have an impact on baby intelligence in the fifth month of pregnancy. This is when the neurons of a baby's brain become capable of recognizing sound. Simultaneously, the baby's senses of touch, taste and sight are also developing, as neurons respond to various types of stimulation to form communication pathways. This is the stage of pregnancy wherein if you fall some objects on the floor, the baby in your womb will react with the sound of a dropping object. I experienced this a lot with Derek, I guess boy babies are really more movable than girls'.

According to scientific research, newborn babies show a preference for the sounds of the language spoken by their mother during their time in the womb. In other words, babies begin learning their native language even before they are born! Studies have also shown that newborn babies can instantly pinpoint their mother's voice. Babies have even been known to recognize music heard in the womb. That is why babies, even if they are still newly born, they will react when they mom would carry or feed them. It's wonderful, it's truly amusing!

The essence of being a woman indeed is being the medium to bring to the world another human to have a life and witness the goodness of God each and every way.

Stay Happy always!
